If the jacket works for you then I'm happy. I have no experience of it so I go by descriptions and technical specs. Perhaps I run warmer than you but I find I overheat very quickly so will avoid jackets such as Foska's.

Shame about your experiences with Assos but that's not something I've heard from loads of others. I'm surprised you kept buying it given your bad luck with it!

Not had many Assos items but noticed contrast between touring mitts - tatty within a few months - and Prosline ones - still pristine after much use. The pair of Pro Campionissimo Evo CX bibshorts seem to have a life as long as their name!
As to the Foska jacket becoming too warm when you ride hard, I've never found anything, nor met anyhone who could tell me of anything, that didn't. Jackets will vary, but if there is any jacket/jersey/material which will actually wick moisture fast enough to keep you dry no matter how hard you batter, then I'd love to know.

I rate the Aldi jacket, although I think of it more as an Autumnal jacket than a winter one. Never owned Assos, so can't comment - see a lot of people out and about in it in the summer though.

Fair point briank. It is somewhat of a holy grail even though some jackets are better than others at it. From my experience, the Rapha soft shell is good but I'd like to give the Assos airblock jacket a go.... just can't afford one!

Well now, I've been lusting after one of those red lightweight softshells since I saw them. (Sad, I know.)
And (even sadder) I haven't the bottle to ask Santa for one.
Anyone kow if they do decent discounts in the new year?

+1 the red jerseys too. I'm justifying the cost of the jerseys by the fact that the merino will mean they don't need washing after every ride so can virtually live in it without needing a second 'nice' jersey ;)

Latest update, went back to LBS who had ordered me the Spesh jacket, but in the wrong colour:sad:...I then spied on the sale rail  an Altura Kinetic jacket at £45... Perfect, it was in my size too so:biggrin:
When it ever becomes safe to go out again, yet another sunday run lost to icy conditions:angry: I'll report back on its performance.
