I did a ride over to otley this morning and it was lovely and sunny with a little bit of head wind, I was going to pre warn Cock Pit Cafe about you coming but it was busy and I forgot.

What time will you be at the cafe on sunday ?
Depends, what time will you be there?

I have reservations about Sunday, not done a proper hilly ride since the start of May, only done a couple of long-ish rides since then, both of them fairly flat.
Long weeks of commuting in the wind and rain have worn me out, but if I feel OK after resting Friday night and Saturday I'll come over

So, it's very hilly, only 1 cafe stop and brompton fatboy is coming?
Are you sure you want people to turn up?
But at least you will get to ride some roads that you haven't ridden before!

(And also perhaps get the chance to practise your CPR skills ...)

Good question! Why - are you planning to ride over and say hello to us?

I would be surprised if we got there earlier than 13:00 and I would hope it wouldn't be later than 14:00 or it would be an awfully long day! As a matter of interest, mechanicals or other delays excepting, I'd guess that we get to the cafe at about 13:30.

As for warning the cafe owner - if the cafe is busy, then it is busy; not much that can be done about it - we'll just have to take our turn! I warned one cafe and they reserved a table for us. Half the riders didn't turn up and we were an hour late getting there. I felt pretty guilty for having tied up one of their tables for all that time!

You'll still be a lot fitter than me, and probably Alun and maybe bfb too.

Anyway, not having done a hilly ride for a while is a good reason to get one in rather than avoiding one!

No colin I was more thinking that if you have Skud & Potsy with you just a general warming so they can post door staff to intercept them ;):giggle:

Yes I may ride over to Otley and say HELLO I will see what you decide nearer the time.

Ah - a good point. I'll make sure I get in the queue ahead of them so the food doesn't run out before I get served!

Sounds like a plan!

Obviously, with the kind of rapidly-changing weather we've had recently, anything could happen but - fingers crossed - the outlook is a lot better than it was a couple of days ago!

The climb up from Oxenhope might be a slog with a strong cross wind, but then we have the great 7 km downhill run back.

It's OK, the rabbit food is kept separate from our proper food

Now we have to add meeting Phil to the 'cons' It'll be a wonder if anyone turns up

Been watching this for all of two days now.

If commitments permit I'll come out and meet up with you en route. Probably around the top of (at any rate after) Langbar.
Beamsley would be better but there is no way I could get up Langbar on fixed.
I'm guessing it would be around 1 pm or so when you get there?

Sorry to have left it so late - circumstances beyond my control - but I can now confirm that I'll be joining you on Sunday. :hyper:
A bit worried though as I've not had a day out since the wonderful Hawkshead Brewery ride and that was in April
What condition is the car park in, Colin? If I recall correctly it's not a million miles from the line of Hebden Water.
