Nasty raggy edge - need to file those burrs away

Bottom end
Black thing on first - the same way round as you have in the photo
Then the bearing - but turned over so the tapered outer edge is uppermost


Top
First the bearing the same way round as you have it
Next is usually a thin plastic disc . It looks like its tucked up under the big black cone
Then the smaller silver ring - the same way round as you have it
Finally the big black cone

give everything a smear of grease so it'll come apart when next you need it too.

The black thing *will not* go on first.

I've struggled for thirty minutes, greased it, nothing.

The bearing goes into the fork easily.

You're not trying hard enough (or doing it right). You'll need to get rough with it

Hmm, hammer it on. I know it's not made of glass, but I'm not sure what I'd brace the fork against to start hammering the crown race.

Ive looked about for piping that could be used, to get an even force on the race. No dice.
