Hi all,

Can't find an authorative source on this. Am I putting these in correctly?

Bottom is wrong.

Race on first on fork, bearings should have the flater edge to the bottom not top (writing upside down).

Look inside the head tube at the bottom and you'll see it's angled.

Top is OK

Bottom end
Black thing on first - the same way round as you have in the photo
Then the bearing - but turned over so the tapered outer edge is uppermost

Top
First the bearing the same way round as you have it
Next is usually a thin plastic disc . It looks like its tucked up under the big black cone
Then the smaller silver ring - the same way round as you have it
Finally the big black cone

give everything a smear of grease so it'll come apart when next you need it too.

don't stick the whole thing in upside-down. If you do that you'll have the wheel where the handlebars go and and the handlebars on the ground.
I can assure you that this can be done if you've got a bare frame - and looks almost but not quite OK. Then of course you have the "for feck's sake!" moment of realisation

Thanks guys, will correct.

It seems the fork tube is extra long, so I'm going to need to cut about 4 inches off...

Also, no spacers have come in the set...

Either a plastic ring or an metal split washer. This takes up slack on the headset as it's tightened.

I can't quite understand how the headset will get tightened. The screw in the crown just goes into a circular thing.

Have you fitted the star-nut into the top of the fork steerer tube ? The top cap bolt then screws into that and tightens everything up

Surely the fork tube shouldn't sit this tall

Ha ha.

But I don't get it - my first Cinelli is also an Experience frame, and doesn't have this problem.

So I've got a rotary saw I think can do thin metal...they sell these things expecting us to have this kind of equipment?

I'm starting to wonder if I'll get this thing built before July.

A normal hack saw with a good bi-metatic blade should cut it.
Getting the cut square is important, Getting the cut at the right height is VERY important.
These are the kind of tools and experience workshops are expected to have, thats what makes them workshops.

I'm going to close my eyes, and go la la la la la....

Unfortunately, with the nice and really easy to service aheadset stems, you need to chop it. Measure, once, twice and three times.
