It depends on the speed of the delivery - of speech etc..

What about 'often'? I say it should rhyme with 'soften' (though, to confuse things I have heard someone pronounce 'soften' sounding the 't')

This is a north-south thing. Take "bath", me being northern it's bath with the "a" as in bat. Them southerners say it bath with the "a" as in half. Although I say fore-head, most people round here (especially the older generation!) say forred.
