The Tern Verge X30 looks like it could be a whole lot of fun.

There are six Verge models. I presume you mean the X20 (which is twice the price of a typical Brompton).I like the look of the Tern Verge, but it's twice the price of a Brompton.

Why do the brompons hold there value so well? Are the others so far behind in form and function?
Also for central London, how many gears would I need? It won't be doing epic miles.
More a case of a 5 mile ride to the station, and then within London. My job requires me to visit 2 or 3 customers in a day (west end, city & docklands)
Is it possible to hire a brompton for a week to try a week of commuting
X30h is available for £1500. Quite easy to spend a lot more than half that on a Brompton, let alone one with an equivalent gear range. The one that was linked in the video obv.
Picked up my Tern Link D8 today and it seems v good value for money. Off to London tomorrow far a tour around will let you know how it goes
I think my decathlon hoptown is made by Dahon. It's a fab bike and I've had a lot of use from it, but it's quite heavy and difficult to manage when it's folded.
I'd like a brompton as it folds smaller so easier to sneak by your feet on the train etc.
Had a brisk 5 miles last night and found it to be great fun. Managed 12 mph average which is only a couple of mph slower than I would have expected on my hybrid. Plenty of gears for a loop with a 3% climb. Learning points were more care needed to avoid potholes due to the wheel size and the need to be aware of the increased rate of response (you can really chuck it about). How did you get on with your folder?
