Won't make any difference to the roads due to the expense and difficulty required in obtaining a pilots licence excluding most users. Even the die hards may get a bit tired of doing the pre flight in the pishing rain when they're already late for work.

As a kid, I always assumed that come the year two thousand, this would be my car. I blame The Jetsons for my sinking into mild depression for the last 17 years.

Computer Controlled Flight: The TF-X™ will employ simplified flight controls and will require significantly less flight training than a traditional aircraft. All flight planning will be completed prior to departure, and the vehicle will automatically take off, fly to its destination, and land, all at the push of a button.

Sure it seems Ford built flying cars in the 1960s

Won't the pilot still have to do a physical pre-flight of the aircraft and do all the tiresome meteo stuff first?
I don't know - I think an LAPL license is for things like gliders and microlights, I don't know what they do in practise.

Well I suppose the big question is how high will they be allowed to fly? Will they need to keep to exsting roads or will new routes in the sky be made? Could make overtaking interesting. Will they be allowed afterburners!? Lol.
