When fitting cranks, does one grease the bolts or not?
I think this is one of these questions where you get "you must" / "you must not" answers. I have always used Copaslip on cranks (square tapers) and bolts and have never had any problems.

Is Copaslip the stuff to stop it getting rusted together, or the stuff which 'sets' to prevent the screw coming out?

Oh, and I'm thinking of the bolt, not the tapers!

Thanks for replies!

That's it. Copaslip is an anti-seize compound which contains corrosion inhibitors. I've used it on my bikes and cars for years.

I bought a whopping tin (about the size of a large Lyle's Golden Syrup tin) from the car shop about 5 years ago and I'm not even 1/4 the way down. Great stuff.

I'm normally using the Wellgo grease, I think it's the stuff that stops it seizing, as opposed to the locking compound. Is that all good then?
