Had a removable Thule one fitted to my Allroad recently, £475 all in.

Mainly for towing a caravan but I'm looking at getting a towball mounted bike rack at some point in the future.

As already stated - fitting the tow bar is easy.... sometimes need to remove the rear bumper, but then it is usually just 5 or 6 bolts.
The electrics may be more difficult depending on the car wiring. I have fitted a good few tow bars over the last 15 years.
I have always used Towequipe - bought off eBay from Towbarman01. Good service, prices and easy to fit.

Another vote for pfjones, I picked up my removable swan neck Westfalia bar and Volvo specific wiring kit from them 18 months ago, IIRC it was about £230 all in, and about 6hrs to fit.

Hi all

I have decided that I would prefer a towbar mounted bike rack rather than a roof one (mainly as it won't be long before I'll need to get 4 bikes on the car, which there just isn't room for)

My garage quoted me over £500 labour, which pushed the total cost to nearly a grand.

Has anyone fitted one themselves? How easy is it? I'll need to wire in electricals to get the light board on the bike rack to work.

If you do, then get the full electrics done rather than the half assed version (can't remember how many wires is the difference, but one excludes reverse IIRC). It's only around £40 extra at the point of fitting and just means you have many more options.

I got mine done at PF Jones, as I did on my previous car. Cheapo version, ie a static towbar (with full electrics) was £240 IIRC. Removeable towbar is a bit more expensive.
