:biggrin:Well i have had the bike two weeks now, the first week i had it it pissed down every evening, so last friday was my first evening ride, have ridden every evening since, changed to clipless pedals after a couple of days, started with 8 mile ride up to 18 now and really enjoying it, should have started earlier in the year, the nights are really drawing in quickly, looking forward to saturday cycling in the daytime, cycling round part of Epping Forest, should be good plenty of hills,
:sad:while i am here how long does it take for your bum to get used to the saddle, it's a bit sore at the mo, have to get the wife to rub some cream on. lol
Cheers Del

Have you got padded shorts?
The saddle might not be the right size for you.

Saddles can be tough to break in. I'm still struggling with that same issue. Make sure you've been fitted to the bike and if you're not comfortable in a few months, it may be time to get a new saddle. Such a pain in the bum!

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Make sure your saddle is set at the right height, set back and level !

I recently stuck a new saddle on and i was really uncomfortable with it till i had got it right, i ended up sticking a block of wood and a spirit level on it where i sit to get it level as even though it looked right it was not right.Bear in mind that some saddle have a natural curve and you have to make allowances for it as the one i have is higher at the back where i do not sit so i set it level for the bit i do sit on.

After that it transformed the comfort

If that does not work then maybe the saddle is not for you, i do know that many people like the charge spoon.

Glad you're enjoying it, an evening ride after a days work is really good.

The nights certainly are drawing in though. Here in Scotland its dark later, but I went out on Wednesday night without lights and got caught by going too far/ staying too long. Eventually I bailed and called my wife to collect me. That's not as bad as it sounds as she was out of the house and wasn't actually too far away.

So lesson learned- any more evening rides I'll take my lights.

Hi derrick, I love road cycling myself although I can't say I'm into speed that much, I just like lengthy, relaxing rides. Epping forest is right behind where I live but I haven't ventured in there as yet. I probably wear too much in terms of clothing. I normally always wear combat trousers with some padded cycling lycra underneath and that seems to do the job of keep my butt happy!! I was out cycling yesterday though and now I noticed that there's one huge rip in my trousers so I have to purchase another pair quickly. I've not done any late night cycling although would like to at some point. Andrew

It took me a long time to realise this! Now the bit where I sit on is absolutely horizontal and the curved bit protrudes at the back. I wish I had read a post like this a year ago, it would have saved many minutes of position sorting agony!
