First upgrade to your new bike?

OK, new bike has arrived and already I am looking at ways to make it look even better (not too caught up on weight issues due to my own).

First thing I'm looking at is new tyres. Its fitted with Lugano's but old bike had super puncture resistant 2-tone Durano's.

What was your first upgrade/change to your new bike?

Saturday morning i pick up my new wheels.

2nd tyres,
3rd brakes,
4th carbon forks,
5th new wheels,
6th sram cassette,
7th will be new rear derrailuer

Upgraded my CAAD's wheels before I even took delivery.
Usually though it would be tyres and saddle, although saddle is a preference thing rather than an upgrade.

1: New pedals
2: New wheels
3: New tyres & tubes

On my mtb, it was the fork. On my roadster, the wheels.

Notwithstanding the pedals.

Can you not get these upgrades fitted at the bike shop before you pick up the bike, I know when I get my new bike I will get any upgrade done before it leaves the shop.

Tyres for me made a big difference. Got some schwalbe ultremo's for about half price from fudges.

I tried to persevere with the saddle but had to loose it in the end and put the faithful spoon on.

For me i put sks olympics mudguards on. Replaced the Lugano tyres today for Ultremo's.
Luxury things were a cateye speedo thingy and a set of lights. Also a wedge bag for the spare tube n bits.

Apart from sticking my preferred pedals on I generally ride it until i need to replace something then will upgrade it.

Cyclocross: it was the tyres to put some slicks on for commuting, then the brakes to BB7s
MTB: Haven't touched it yet! Have put more tyres on it, but only because the others wore out
Road bike: don't have one yet, but my preorder for one includes a brake upgrade
