It's a bit laughable. Saw a guy on one I did some years ago with Lightweight Wheels (the make is Lightweight). Even their cheap wheels are £1k each.
I thought, has this man actually ridden the roads arround this area (even remarked to some others). Race wheels for a Sportive - WTF.

I saw a bike with Lightweight Wheels outside the Bordar House cafe in Masham, North Yorkshire.
I'm surprised they are that much money, I thought the branding made them look cheap and nasty.
No doubt the other roadies in the cafe were impressed.

The logo is crap. Some are even more... loads a dosh.
I did a local Sprotive that was massively windy, only a 60 miler, but those with deep sections turned back from riding Flash (Peaks) for another route. It was hard work on more traditional rims (CXP33), but carbon aero stuff on a hilly windy ride was really stupid.
