Hi Crowe
I've cycled through bits of Bristol a few times - hilly indeed!
If you feel sick partway through, take it a bit easier next time until you get used to it. No shame in getting off and walking up some of the steepest ones if you are just starting to cycle!
(and if anyone comments on you walking... :cycle:)

Someone will say this, so I may as well - the hills never get easier, you just get faster! :okay:

hi
Picked up my bike today and did my first ride. I had forgotten how hilly Bristol is my thighs remember now tho.

Felt sick half way through the ride. Hoping I'll get over this and get used to the hills. Just need to keep going

Good for you, did you eat prior to going out on the bike?
I have seen many gym goers end up nearly fainting and throwing up because they have come to the gym without eating, even a banana before exercise is better than nothing.

No I hadn't eaten before I went will remember that tomorrow (if my legs let me)

Yes I am trying to find the least steep hills on each route.,

Which hills are you trying to avoid? I'm local though it's impossible to avoid all hills but I might know a different route! There is no shame in walking up them! When I first started I couldn't make it to the top of loads of them... and there are still some that almost kill me (and I will take great efforts to avoid if I can)

Oh dear..... That is hilly!! Are you heading out from the centre!! I walked up St Agnes Hill earlier this year (stopped to take a photo for the comp on here and couldn't get moving again!

Depending on where you are coming from Novers Lane is the one I use most often (but I know others don't like it - well I don't like it either but sort of grin and bare it) unless I fancy taking the long route round using the cycle path beside the Hartcliffe Way (but that is quite a bit out of your way.)

Summerdays I come across south Bristol from the bishopsworth direction. Lots of long slow hills. Will bear Novers lane in mind when I come that way.
