A friend wanted to go for a ride this afternoon, so had no option than to take my new road bike as my hybrid is still with the police.
Having only riden it around the block a few times to practice clipping in and out, I was a bit hesitant, but managed a 60km ride through central London and around Richmond park and back. Really pleased with myself - no 'clipless' moments, a couple of sideways slidey incidents in the pouring rain but managed to keep upright!
I must admit I did take it easy and was keeping an eye on what was coming up in the distance far more than I would have been if I was on my hybrid with disc brakes and normal pedals. The only downer was getting absolutely soaked in the heavy showers!
I might even use the bike to commute a couple of times if I can't get my other bike back this week
