Don't worry, I'll make sure there's nothing indecent!

I fell off on my first ever proper mountain bike ride, a very well disguised large rabbit hole in a slight bank. I thought I'd ride up it as I had a bit of speed up but the rabbits must have been long gone because all there was was lush looking grass, concealing the hole. I came to a dead stop when it swallowed my wheel.

It was a beginners route in Swaledale and had many different surfaces, tree routes at impossible angles blocking pinch points in the path leaving you with the choice, the tree or the river? Stones, some sharp, some smooth and slippy and some with a thin layer of silt from the river. Brambles, nettles and thistles, loads of animal dung, some nice grass but mostly with huge ruts, cobbles, badly set and all gaps wide enough to swallow the width of a wheel, loose stones and rubble, unmade roads and some peat, at least, I hope it was peat.

Other than rabbits, tree routes are my thing to avoid.
