Had my new bike for just 1 week and already had my first puncture on back wheel. Had to walk the last 1.5mile home. Not happy . Fixed it on getting home and ready for tomorrow's ride. Hope I won't get s repeat!

might be worth investing in a seat pack with a repair kit/spare innertube.

better than the walk of shame

I got 4 in just over a week when I bought my road bike, those tyres were in the bin the week after.
I find the stock tyres very poor on a lot of otherwise decent bikes, certainly an area where most manufacturers save a few quid.

What tyres are they and what bike?

I might be paranoid but I always seem to get a puncture on the first ride on a new bike, don't know why, perhaps I'm just plain unlucky. Touch wood I don't seem to get many after that, but it's happened on my last three bikes!

I have a puncture last week after riding new tourer back from work along a very bumpy and crap canal path (never again). It looked to be that the tube had ripped at the base of the valve and was un-repairable, I had a 1.5 mile walk of shame due to have a puncture repair kit but no spare tubes, they were left at home.

Get some schwalbe marathon plus (puncture proof - fingers crossed)!

Highly puncture resistant but nothing is puncture proof!

I have Continental Four Seasons on my bike which are also often claimed as being 'puncture proof'. Had one puncture in 3 months.

P*nctures are a way of life for cyclists.
P-proof tyres are not 100% and are heavier and slower, there are however shades of grey.
In any case you need to know how to fix 'em/swap a tube and carry spares.

Hopefully your maintaining a good road position and keeping out of the crap swept into the gutter by passing vehicles.

Very similar issue with the wifes new hybrid, slime tube had a small tear next to the valve, replaced it with a spare only for that to repeat. Took it to LBS and they admitted when putting in the slime tube before collection they had probably moved the rim tape which in turn had exposed a spoke causing the rip in the tube. Got it repaired free and its been fine since.

Had first p@ncture for a while today, half way to work so a 3 mile walk was not an option just swap tubes and carry on. It amazes me how many 'cyclists' don't carry spare tubes or even a pump.

I've had this happen more than once, the Kenda tyres fitted to my Giant MTB were just rubbish.

I changed the kenda's to all condition armadillos for the same reason - had 4 flats on one ride, have not had one since the armadillos (that's put the mokkers on that) and would say that there would have been plenty of pinch punctur** otherwise.

Make sure you have a pump too

Tyre pressures make a huge difference - early last year I seemed to have a puncture every time I went out, this year I've done 1200 miles without a puncture.
