Well its taken me a little while to do it but i managed today
I could'nt have found a more busy street if i'd tried either, It was on Gosforth hight street (for local CC'rs) & i had been stopping & starting for a mile or so, when i was approaching another red & started to unclip...or tried to ha ha, came to a stand with a car to my right & pavement to my left....then boom i was lying on the pavement, but it felt like slow motion, i think an expletive might have unintentionally popped out while going down aswell !!
As soon as i hit the floor there must have been about half a dozen people checking on my welfare, which was very nice but also VERY embarrassing , i assured everyone i was fine hopped back on my bike & sprinted away as fast as my little legs would take me.
It was about a mile later when my adrenoline must have dropped a bit when i started feeling the pains in my knee, elbow & palm tho ha ha.......but thankfully i must have protected my bike more than myself as i can't find a scratch....PHEW

Have i joined the club now ????

Yes, most of us have done it. Your right it's very embarrassing, try loosening your pedal springs makes it a bit easier unclipping.

I had mine the other day, exactly the same like it was in slow motion!

First thing I did when I got home was check the bike, then loosen the pedal springs

These things never happen fast enough that you can't experience the full range of human emotions as that inevitable point of no return is reached nor are they ever slow enough to allow you to do anything about them. C'est la vie. Hope you weren't hurt.

Did you forget to laugh when you were on the ground ?

It's a necessary part of a clipless moment ! ... also serves to show those around that you re OK  - and helps you keep it in perspective

I toppled off the Brompton when the pedal caught a speed hump, I was going very slowly so it was similar to a clipless.

No serious injury, but what surprised me was the number and size of the bruises which appeared within a few hours.

One was inside my right thigh, which made no sense because that part of my body wouldn't have hit anything.
