I had my first near miss today -on a cycle path and slowly negotiating a junction with traffic lights. I'd unclipped my left foot but as I went round the corner I lost balance towards the right, gave a small shriek, and grabbed hold of the traffic-light post while adopting an 'I meant to do that' expression. Phew!

I think you made a perfect dismount

Ha, had my first clipless moment last night.

Been clipless from the moment i got my bike two weeks ago.
Followed the wise sages here and made them really loose until i got used to them.
Last night decided i was used to them and tightened them up.

Pulled into someones gravel drive without taking at least one foot off.....
front wheel goes right......body weight goes left........bodyt hits ground.

on the plus side, the gravel was kinda think and therefore soft
second bonus was there was not a single person watching....hurrah!

I gave up with trying clipless on the Commuter hybrid bike - too many traffic lights / peds / dogs / mutant psychos in Merc's, Audi's etc...etc... Not to mention all the poncing around with changing shoes... Gotta love 'em on the road bike though for longer jaunts... sooo much better power transfer & control...

I have mine nice and lose but that is also working against me as I clip in before I am ready pulling away. That caught me at the weekend pulling away on a steep hill I fluffed it up and went to put my foot back down but it had clipped in. So that was me in hedge chuckling to my self
