first carbon race bike

looking to buy my first carbon race bike at the weekend looking at the boardman team carbon and the pinnacle evaporite 2012 both in my budget just carnot make me mind up so thought ask you peeps

Both decent bikes, i assume you mean the evaporite 2 ? If so I would rate the boardman higher due to the better spec throughout and I suspect the frame uses a superior carbon manufacturer.
I have no knowledge of the pinnacle as far as quality of ride but it seems to have an endurance geometry while the Boardman has a lower front end, shorter wheelbase etc (race geometry) and gives a harsher ride than some frames, so depends on your need.
Have a look at the Giant Defy composite 2 or 3 (or the TCR version which is race version) not the same quality kit on the bike as the Boardman but the frame and fork are far superior to almost any other frame.

I can't comment on the pinnacle but I've owned a 2010 boardman team carbon, lovely bike to ride, light & responsive.
