, so the general idea was a hybrid then move onto something a bit better.........

Well i have been offered a nice custom built bike which im interested in but dont know too much about it spec is as follows

Specs
Frame: Carbon KG486 52cm
Fork: KG486 Carbon
Stem: FSA
Bars: Drops
Front wheel: Campagnolo
Rear wheel: Shimano
Cranks: Bontager Race
Crainring: 39t
Seat: Bontrager
Red bar tape, single drop lever, front brake

I will be turning it back into a geared bike and adding flat bars until im ready to move to drop heads

If you want a hybrid, then buy a hybrid would be my suggestion. Turning a drop bar single speed bike into a hybrid will probably be a lot more expense/hassle than you think. If you want a drop bar bike, then why not just buy one? There are plenty of road-bike riders out there who aren't exactly racing whippets, I'd suggest you get a bike with triple chainrings/low gears though.

How much is this custom going to cost? A carbon custom is in the thousands, surely?

And as for drops and being overweight - just buy a pair of bib shorts. Lets you get down low without the jiggle showing. Works for me

Is 52cm the right frame size for you?
KG486 - I assume it's a nice LOOK ! PS LOOK is a make if you didn't know.
I would presume it is that frame, strange how that has been made into what i presume is a SS from what has been said so far.

Yeah was made for himself as he has other bikes too, some say it is not worth having so im in second thoughts now

I wouldn't have second thought about it, just that if you spend a fortune on it and don't like it, you've spend a fortune (even at cost) and you've got a bike you don't like/want.

I have a 52 frame and it fits me perfectly. It shouldnt really matter the frame size but how high the seat is and how hight the handlebars are.
Do you and Tony share the same body shape/size?
There are many more things to take into consideration than seat hight and handlebar height. For example the top tube length is very import.

Well i have short legs and a long body
wacko.gif
plus i have to have a weird seating position which is hard to explain but basically i have a artificial ball joint on my ankle so need to be seated more over the pedals so that when i push down i can get more force into it. Hard to describe really but cycling is better than running as my ankle gets shocked during running and my "bolts" so to speak become loose and need to be tightened sooner

The fact you can clip in is also a bonus too as it wil keep the ankle in the correct position for maximum usage and less wear and tear

At the end of the day many have said its not worth the effort to buy and modify the bike to a usable standard so i think maybe its best just to go to my local bike shop and look around again.

Hi people!
I'm new to cycling well i mean i haven't cycled or owned a bike in a long time. My question is I've been offered a muddyfox explore I think it's a mountain bike. I would hopefully be riding to work as well as pressure and was just wondering if this was a good bike to start of with or should i be buying something else?? Also I'm F508 what size frame should I be looking at??

Thanks
