That's brilliant, damn Ponies.

I have to say something very similar almost happened to us, Sister at front was happily following group of cyclists, I suddenly had a moment when I though the sign had sent us another way. After a bit of yelling at Sister she finally realised I was trying to get her attention. The group we were following were not taking part.

Fortunatley this was only a 300m detour not 12 miles.

Yes I've entered the one in Pulboruogh in the 5th, coming on my own to this one so no Big Sister to look after me.

Phew for only 300m!
I'll see you in Pulborough - I'm not riding, as i'd arranged months ago to do a sposnsered walk that afternoon, but i'll be maning or should that be wo-maning the desks in the morn
I'm doing the Wight Ferry Sportive too - That's right in your back yard!

Oh...and I have now bought a proper (visor-less) helmet!!

It is, if it follows the round the Island route it goes right past my Flat!! It's a great route, I've done it twice now. Not sure I can be bothered with 4 ferry crossing in 1 day just to do the bit in the New Forest though. Might see if they need any help at Feed Stations on the Island.

I'm still a relative newcomer to this cycling lark having only been at it a couple of months, but it's been going well. I've done a few sportives and have been getting the distance in, average speed has been respectable if not spectacular.

Today I had my first bad ride, my legs felt like dead weights from the off, hills I normally fly up I was slogging up as if they were alpine passes, and even accounting for the headwind I was riding into it still felt like I was pedalling through treacle.

I ended up cutting the ride short and only managed 32 of my planned 50 Miles.

Sorry there isn't really a point here, I just felt miserable after struggling on the bike and thought people here might understand more then my none cycling friends.

I've been there. In fact I dare say we have all been there at least once. After I completed my last MTB Marathon I went to see my Dr as I felt so exhausted. There was nothing medically wrong with me so put it down to one of those things - a bad day. Don't let it get you down. Rest up for a couple of days and then beat the hell out of those hills again

I think your probem may be your diet, you carn't expect to do well when your body isn't fueled.
Research low GI diet its really brilliant for maintaing your energy levels and should give you tons more energy to maintain prolonged exercise

Hope this helps (:

happy riding.

I popped into my local health food store today and had a chat with the nutrionalist, I was slightly distracted by how attractive she was but I do remember she kept mentioning low GI foods. Am going to start taking my diet more seriously, it's the fuel for the engine after all.

Thanks
