Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.
wish I could burn that many calories on a 50 mile ride even...if you have ever truly bonked you'd really know it....what did you eat the night before?
I find pacing my rides helps...like today I rode the same 45 mile loop as yesterday (on a bowl of porridge :hungry: ), but it was much windier so I started out at a slower steadier pace and stuck to it all the way around mostly (except bury hill again where I almost died at 4mph:laugh:)
try eating a plate of pasta the night before, porridge for breakfast, and drink a lot of water before and during the ride...and ride your own ride, forget about trying to keep up with fitter riders for now anyway.

Yeh the apps said that not me.
I don't input calories or my intake so guess it just guesses it from somewhere so ignore that.

I do have a stinking cold today too

Well, I think it'll be the cold that did it then.

I'm going against the trend here on the breakfast front.

Whilst 36 miles is a good ride (well done) by most standards (me included) for someone who is doing an average 60 miles a week I wouldn't thought breakfast vs no breakfast would make any difference at all. I would have though most reasonably fit individuals could knock out 2.5 hours of effort without giving food a thought.

I'm going to be shot down now......

A big bowl of porridge, as said above. also try this for a top up snack easy to make and full of energy

BRANFLAKE LOAF

More delicious than shop bought malt loaf and so easy to fling together
a child can do it. This must be one of the only cake mixtures that looks and tastes
pretty revolting in the bowl, but honestly, the end result is well worth the complete lack of effort...

Best sliced thinly and eaten with butter or jam.

1 mug of Kellogg's All-Bran
1 mug of either currants, mixed dried fruit or sultanas
1 mug of milk
1 mug of self-raising flour
A generous half-mug of caster or soft brown sugar

Method

1. Put everything except the flour in a large bowl and leave the mixture to stand for about an hour.

2. Grease and long-strip-line a standard size loaf tin and pre-heat the oven to approximately Gas Mark 3 (160 C)

3. Sift the flour into the soggy mixture, stir it in well and pour the whole lot into the loaf tin, spreading it evenly up to the sides.
4. Bake in a cool oven for about an hour and a half, until a skewer or sharp knife inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean

Nah, if there was ever a YMMV caveat on a question, it'd be this one.

I can normally go out on a 20-30 mile ride on just a coffee in the morning but any more than that, I'd be having porridge and toast. Of course YMMV ;).

Tony.
Same here, 25 miles this morning without any brekkie, just a mug of coffee.

I think you were just knackered because you are not used to exercising for that length of time. Ignore the res'o'um, they're over thinking it

Thanks everyone
Well I wouldn't class myself as fit but not totally unfit

Hopefully it will be the combination of my cold and no breakfast that did it and ill be better on the next one
