That's a fine accomplishment, and a good time. When walking up hills, just explain to folks you are just getting some time out of the saddle, to stretch the legs. The Banzai on the descents will come with time. I've been at this for some time, and my time still hasn't come.

Well done! Beat my time by about 10mins (although our group had a generous stop at the feed station - that's my excuse anyway!) I too was "forced" into walking up that ridiculous steep hill - my physique means gravity is my best friend on the way down, and my absolute enemy on the way up!!

We stopped for ten minutes or so and ate some sandwiches at the bottom of that hill. Watching the look on everyone's faces as they came round the bend and saw what lay ahead (or rather above) was highly entertaining.

Did you see the family doing it on a tandem, towing a child in a trailer?!?! Curious to know how long it took them..

Managed to complete exmoor beauty in 5 hours 17 minutes total time for 60 miles
Definetly need to work on my hills as I walked up one and the end of another
Biggest thing to slow me down is my lack of BANZI on the decents people were flying past me
Nice One, I cant descend for toffee (or whatever they say) either

Congratulations,

I am another who can't Banzi descents - maybe it will come with practice, some of the roads around here are not in great condition with too many pot holes - probably being over cautious. I am however beginning to enjoy the pain of climbing

I'm convinced that the Banzi disappears the older your get - younger CC Ecossers fly down the hills whilst I am clutching the rear brake! Too slow up hills, too slow down 'em...

Yes - the less time you have left the more careful you are with preserving it.

I look at climbs (as in rock climbing) I used to solo way back and nowadays I look at them and think "boy you must've been frigging nuts".
