As long as I breathe, I attack.
Currently doing 11 hour shifts mon - fri + a day at the weekend quite often , this week on nights i have been out of the house for 13 and a half hours + not sleeping more than 4-5 hours due to kids, posties etc etc . and add in making time for the family .
This is liable to continue till at least next year
After my commute i just dont have anything in the tank atm as im just too tired so has anyone any insight ?

Seeing as it seems you work hard, I am sure your family wouldn't mind you wanting a couple of hours a week, I always recommend early morning rides. I head out sometimes around 7am to get them in before late shifts etc. Also short sharp circuits will be better for your fitness and probably easier to fit in judging on your schedule.

I just always believe you should always make time for you. '...Don't forget to live while you are breathing...' But then again I am not married and with no children

Something most of us go through at some point in our lives, You need to put family first, As time goes on things change, It get's better the older you get, I went through the same when my kids were young, But now the kids have left home, i am semi retired, so i get to do what i want and it does not cause any disruption. Just do what you can when you can.:okay:

Awww - I guess just take every opportunity as it comes. As Derrick says, as you get older, you will get more time. Just any type of exercise is better than none.

You could perhaps make more use of your commutes - either by extending them, or riding them harder/slower, depending on what your goals are...

Well, you are getting 100-120 miles of commuting in a week, which is a lot more than most of us ride!

Not very scientific, but couldn't you do the first 6 or 7 miles of your commute as a warm-up, go flat out for a mile, then just ride easy the rest of the way?

You are working too much, 55 plus hours a week no wonder you have no time to do anything else

i dont know your situaton but if something isnt how you want it change it, i did, i went from working 40 hours a week to 20-30 hours a week and double the money by starting my own business, now i work mon to thurs 9-3 and friday if i feel like it

fark being out of the house for 13 hours at a time, thats no lifestyle

Found out the overtime will drop in Febuary , just in time for pay talks ;)
Day off today as i have a few days holiday left but i doubt i will get out as i have jobs around the house that need doing .
Yesterday i did not get out due to weather/ family and i just pigged out , bit of a sugar rush to combat the feeling down and now i feel guillty .

As Derrick said there are times in people's lives when it gets like that. I too did the silly hours worked thing and had kids and a partner who was ill it is not easy and sometimes you just have to get on with it. Now I'm semi retired and have a lot more time it took the kids getting older to start to give me more time, when they start going out more with their fiends, and for me stopping my self employment which was why I did all those hours.
You can't do too much your health is the important thing

@Neilsmith you say you dropped the self employment to do less hours, i know what you mean as at first i was doing 60 hours a week for a year, but as my customer list grows my prices went up and my hours droppe, ive been self employed for 2 years and im not earning great money yet but im only doing 20 hours a week physical work on average and maybe another hour a day marketting online but im earning more than i was in full time employment, my goal is to get it up to around 30 hours a week and the rest of the time i plan to enjoy life. I feel semi retired myself and im 33yr old

I could have carried on and taken less work it would have still given me a reasonable living, but I got to the point where I was fed up with it. It was the best decision I made, I took a part time job and the first day I left after work it dawned on me I didn't have to think about work till I was in again. I never shut off in my own business I found myself going over stuff in my head as I was trying to get to sleep.
