If there's a queue at traffic lights, I'll normally only filter if it's so long thst otherwise I'd have to wait through more than one green cycle. If it's obvious that I'll get through on the first green I'll just take my place in the queue.

Talking of Range Rovers, which I suppose we were, Mrs A was once approached by a RR driver waving a golf club in a threatening manner. Objected to all these cyclists on her road. yes, the driver was a woman! Fortunately the ride was a Breeze ride, and the leader started to take photos.

Filtering is legal and to much degree expected, to maintain progress.

Little point in riding if you are going to sit in traffic.

It sounds like your filtering was slow and considered, nothing wrong with that.

Car driver was just ignorant...and likely a little thick too
