Hi all,

Thanks for all the useful tips when helping me decide on my new bike. I finally got a Giant Escape R2 and have commuted about 6 times, on a 14 mile round trip.

Apart from the sore bum I am loving every minute.

Look forward to getting more involved with the site.

I got the self same bike last week

How you finding it?, its been 20 years since I have been on a bike but managed a 15 mile round trip the other night with a pint stop in the middle, very civilised it was.

Going to winter train and do the 15 mile into work next spring.

Just 'geeking' up on some spd's as we speak

Great- first step taken! I started cycling last year but tailed off a bit on the winter as I really did not have the gear to ride in for wet or cold weather. Thanks to Aldi now have no excuses for this winter.

Just a mention as you are new and may not have thought about it- my only worry would be not being seen by drivers as bike is a bit dark. I got a bright coloured bike and never wear black gear on my commute.
