Hello all

Went out for a ride this afternoon and i got just outside my home town and i felt my back tyre getting flatter so i decided to pull over and pump it back up .

But for some reason the nozzle bit on the valve snapped off , its this a main problem that happens or a faulty tube as i paid good money for these " Cont Race " .....

anyways ive repaired a tube that i had till i get some new ones and looking forward to getting back out at the weekend .

Hope everyone as a nice weekend

Carl

I've never had that problem with a conti tube. I've found specialized tubes are liable to similar.

Thanks HLaB

It also seems that the Valve itself is bent aswell

ive sent a message to High on Bikes and maybe i will get a replacement if it is Faulty as at £8 each its something you don't expect , anyways its worth a try

I managed to get home before it went back down though

Do you mean the valve stem parted from the tube?

That can be caused by riding on an under-inflated tyre: lack of pressure between tube and tyre allow the tyre to drag the tube round the rim a tad every time you hit a bump, eventually the valve stem rips out of the tyre.

The little Nozzle that you un-screw to inflate the tyre snapped off and the 60mm Valve was bent for some reason .

The tyre slowly went down but i managed to get some air into the innertube to get home , only the dust cap keeping most of the air in

I have the same Valve on my front wheel and there where the Continenal Race 28 Supersonic 60mm

Where you using a hand mini-pump?

I used to have have that problem and I figured it was the rocking motion when pumping the tyres up.

I now use a track pump and I don't have that same problem anymore, although I still have the mini-pump for when out on the bike. But punctures tend to be rare so I seem to hardly use the mini-pump now.

Using a mini pump is ok provided you dont flex the stem back and forth as you pump. You need to wrap a thumb around the rim or find another way to brace your hand to stop any stress on the valve stem.
