I want to be thin, fit and healthier and have taken up cycling alongside going to Slimming World. Anyone else? I've got a whole load of crazy health crap going on too, so have to take both dieting and exercising with some care.

Could do with losing some round my gut (or is that losing my round gut.
Lost 5.5 stone (on a diet of chemotherapy – wouldn't recommended it :-)
Have put a stone or so back on, but with cycling and the gym I'm probably fitter than I've ever been.

Cyclists do seem obsessed with cake though.

I've just started a slimming world type plan. I bought the food optimising book and have had two red days, today and yesterday. I lost two lbs yesterday and hope this continues, I rode thirty miles today but my knee ached a bit, I need to lose and get healthier like yourself. Good luck, easy does it, do it but don't over do it. Also keep posting your progress.

I want to lose another 3 and a half stone really.

Sorry about the chemo DTD. I'm on a cocktail of drugs, including steroids, and they just make me want to eat more more more all the time. I've always struggled with my weight, but it's much harder now with the illness (I have stage 4 kidney failure, amongst other things) and the medication.

The Jogger - you need to do the new plan! Extra Easy is fantastic: anything that's free or red or green is still free. 1 A and 1 B choice though. I'm a total convert - meat and carbs together!

I don't understand how that would work, I thought the whole idea was to have either or, sounds good though. I will look for it on line but not paying the £80 to slimming world, well not yet anyway.

I have no idea how it works, but it does. You're supposed to fill a third of your plate with veg too.

I lost 3 and a half stone 2 years ago (which doesn't sound a lot, but I was only 13 and a half stone at 5 foot 10).

Main things I did.

Make a food diary, (Calorie counting, boring I know)

Exercise at least 3 times a week.

The hardest bit about losing any weight is discipline, I had quit smoking a year before and believe my losing the weight was much harder!!!!!

Just don't expect to be super-skinny within a month and you'll do fine, it's a slow process but it is easily do-able.

Steroids are a b*****r for making you want to eat.
As Kate Moss said "skinny feels better than anything tastes" – you could punch some people :-)

I go to the gym three times a week and have just recently started going out on my bike a couple of times a week and I also try and keep my sugar and fat intake down to as little as possible. I have been losing 1-1.5 lbs a week since November now. Started coming off a bit quicker now with the Biking involved.

Hi

I'm a Slimming World target member and have been for some time now. I do the extra easy and it suits me fine. I do cheat a little bit now and again but work off the over sinning with plenty of exercise. Started off at 20st 4.1/2lb and am now at my target of 14st 9lb. Cycling, cross training and long pacey walks do it for me. Whatever your plan is, stick to it and you will see the results.
Good luck to all on this route.

go for it, i lost 2 stone doing SW but took about 6 months and still a way off the target that TBH i think i set too high anyway. Just quit as I've paid them over £100 for something that i can essentially do for free by myself with what i've learned with a bit of self discipline and exercise of course. But being part of it did give me the kick up the backside i needed end the group support helped. Also looking back over last few months TBH i think i got so immersed in it all that i must have bored my wife silly as all i ever did was look up syns in the book or the website. But if you do stick to it you WILL lose weight. Good luck!

Hiya, I'm a heavy guy and I think I need to lose around 6-7 stone!!!

I'm starting to cycle to and from work as from Monday, which should definitely help me with that, or so I hope it will  plus I plan on going on leisure rides at the weekends and stuff, good luck to us!
