I have loads of different sizes of luggage webbing, the kind you get to strap things down in estate cars, worked really well in the last kombi van I had, as long as you have anchor points to hook the ends to.
Generally just one or two, very occasionally three.
I was just thinking with all the comments about fork mounts, I may have omitted some key information!
My audax bike has full guards and a hub dynamo. Removing the wheel would mean removing the spade connectors for the dynamo, which could damage them over time. Even then I think the mudguard would catch on the floor first unless the fork was raised a few inches. You can see why I'd prefer not to remove the wheel.
Wrap in a blanket, keep them upright and strap to side of a van. The other option is just sheets of cardboard between each bike and also the van. I have had 7 bikes like this in a van with no damage plus plenty of room for more.
