i suppose that makes sense.

so a tourer with heavier wheels would be more ok than a spec sirrus' sleek faster wheels.

DLB - My Sirrus did the transpennine trail last year no problem at all. It's a very versatile workhorse and pretty nippy too. I used to go round the reservoirs on the Longendale Valley quite often and some of those were rough in places.

When I did the TPT the ground was fairly dry and I had no bother with the stock 28 slick tyres. If I wanted to use it on muddier terrain the tyres could be swapped for something a bit more rugged quite easily.
