Here for rides.
Perhaps... I didn't specifically buy the ceramic jockey wheels for performance gain, I needed a new mech so went for an upgraded model and that's what it came with.
Sorry, wasn't implying you did but rather that everything top of the line and premium prices is 'ceramic-this' and 'ceramic-that' these days, we will be wearing ceramic jerseys next.

Easy to get caught up in it; I toyed with a ceramic BB for the mtb, took a look in the mirror, saw the middle-aged middle of a middle-aged man and came to my senses!

Very true. I'm just slowly upgrading my groupset a bit at a time when the right bits come up at the right prices.

I'm going all SRAM Red not because it will make me faster, but because I think it looks lovely, will perform very well, and I like treating myself. It's an added motivation to get out on the bike.

Likewise I have two pairs of shorts that contain 'carbon fibre'...

WTF?! Carbon fibre in shorts? To do what?!!

Probably fibres made from bamboo charcoal.

I've got a couple of shirts that contain this - it has anti-bacterial properties, so doesn't pick up a smell as badly as most man made fibres.
In the same way that ceramic bearings are supposed to run with less friction and last longer etc

Both on paper do have added value but the real world value is questionable depending on the premium paid.

I know what you mean. With the cycling tops there is a noticeable difference and I think it's enough to justify the extra couple of quid I paid, but it isn't quite the panacea that the blurb in the shop suggests.
