Was thinking about buying one of these for winter, but I have more of a romantic nose and wonder if one of these will fit:

Has anyone else tried these, or is a balaclava best?

Face masks are a waste of time in my view. They'll just turn your mouth/nose into a damp, hot, sweaty mess.

Just get a Buff, which you can pull up around your face and push back down to your neck as required.

Buff or skull cap that goes over the ears. They look too restricting for breathing !

this buff thingy, how does it work with the helmet? dou you put it on under the straps so it can cover the ears?

Decathlon have one, as do Cotswold Leisure and various other walking/mountain stores.

Mine was 1.99 from a surf shop, though I've seen them at around a tenner elsewhere.

Abitrary, I have got one, I purchased it last year thinking it would be useful, I haven't actually used it, it never seemed to get cold enough, PM me with your postal addy, and I'll pop it in the post.

I think that's the problem in southern Englandshire - it rarely gets cold enough. I have a Gore face mask/balaclava which I use in winter and sometimes in early Spring if I am heading into Lecht, Cairn O'Mount, Glenshee. It is great if the temperature is cold enough.
