to be honest I think ITV were doing everyone a favour, it was such a poor match they should have gone off air after 20 mins! :birthday:

Yep...I thought I'd sat on my remote as the screen went straight to the middle of an advert. Anything a small cable station can do during the Super Bowl, ITV can do...but without the porn.

Same with F1. I worked out we missed about fifteen laps of every race because of adverts. TV is not about delivering programmes to your audience, but delivering an audience to your advertisers.:birthday:

i remember in their first season in charge damon hill taking the lead during the ad break. the embarrassment among the commentary team was obvious.

btw i saw the goal live, although there was a glitch about 1 minute before.

+1. I was looking forward to a really good match, turned off after 30 minutes and watched Grand Designs instead. Roll on Saturday for the start of the Six Nations.

To go back to the beginning...I saw this and laughed out loud. You think that TV broadcasters have legions of technical whizz-kids measuring every bit of film with a micrometer screw guage, but, actually, late at night, it's one muppet in a small room, watching porn on the video and smoking a dooby.

Like when they played The Babe's drama (starring Timothy Spall and Brenda Blethyn, so no small deal) and put the wrong tape in the machine. And didn't notice for 90 minutes. And didn't answer the phone.....

ITV's football coverage is unmitigated shoot. They make the Champions League seem like It's a Knockout crossed with some celebrety dross, and their "Panel of experts" are a joke.

Well I was at the game and I wished I'd missed it as well! And the post-goal celebrations? I wondered when they'd be handing the cup out. The sock robbing bast...

Not that I'm bitter or owt like.

Well it was certainly good timing to score the goal after 40 mins of Liverpool playing for the draw ... ummm ... I thought Rafa said none of his teams ever did this, except perhaps at Extremadura?

My favourite match report, which perfectly sums up the Evertonian view is from When Skies Are Grey.

'It's moments and nights like that which make it all worthwhile. The ecstatic high of giving it to them once in a f*cking while, followed by the lugubrious and mellow comedown of watching the highlights when you get home and delighting at Rafa's kite as he stares, watery-eyed, at some imaginary cobweb in the corner of the ceiling, while giving that weak smile and shrugging as he repeats the same pissy answer over and over, the big gammon-faced tit. '

By the way, I remember something similar watching Liverpool in a UEFA Cup final (against some Spanish no marks - I honestly cannot remember their name). I was on a stag do in Barcelona with half the party blues and half reds. The telly went off for a second and when it came back on Jordi Cruyff had scored from a corner against Liverpool. I couldn't stop laughing.

Unfortunately Liverpool went on to win the game and various members of our parties had to fight off attempted muggings later in the evening, but at least the Cruyff goal was a highlight!
