Mosers are not my thing but I think it's later than a San Cristobel, they started with numbers for a while, maybe a model 51 from the 80's ?

I agree with midlife , it is a mid 1980's bike. I can tell you that the "F Moser" decals were actually not decals but the name was sprayed on and the head tube Moser "face" looks more modern than the original '80's one looked. So it may be resprayed , not that it rules out you buying it. Take a look at the photos of my Moser for comparison .

I am fairly sure that the shimano sx 100 is a later add on and it would have been campagnolo originally. The thing that intrigues me is that unless l am mistaken the rear derailleur cable is internally routed and l have never seen that on a Moser frame. I wonder if there was a frame maker in the 1980's that used that way of routing the cable ?

Bianchi x4 had a rear cable like that, most builders had a stab at it at some time, I guess Moser was no exception

So whats the verdict, make an offer or walk away ? For me its the frame thats important so if it isn't the right size l would leave it unless you get the complete bike for a song an then make a few quid stripping and selling on .

The frames wrong size
But I'm interested in the panto parts and fork

Sell on the frame and get a frame my size and upgrade shimano parts to campag
But I'm intrigued in the internal routing if it's rare I'd keep the whole bike and upgrade said parts
Seller looking £250

The bottom bracket could be interesting because Moser frames came with a variety of cutouts and they can tell you more about the date/ maker etc. For example De Rosa made frames for Moser ......don't hold your breath on that one, but hey you never know
Ugo De Rosa is certainly one of the best frame builders of all time. In his workshop in Cusano Milanino (Milan, Italy), he manufactured masterpieces which strongly influenced the cycling industry in the 1970s and 1980s. In the 1974 Giro d'Italia, an estimated 80% of all riders in the peloton rode on bikes which were built by De Rosa.

Just as Francesco Moser, one of the most winning riders ever, who chose De Rosa frames in his professional career, both with Benotto and F. Moser branded bikes, and when he started producing his own bikes. In fact, around 1977, De Rosa helped him to transform the small workshop of his brother Aldo into a high end frame manufacture and trained other frame builders. The early framsets can be identified by a heart shaped cutout on the bottom bracket shell and brake bridge, which was De Rosa’s signature sign.

I am far from being a Moser expert, but that amount of chrome and the Campag parts suggest a top end frame and a late 70 early 80 date. If so 250 could be a good price.

A cup of rea and a bit of time searching for images could be rewarding :cuppa::addict:
