Asterix - agree completely. I don't need prescription glasses for cycling, so it's weather and wind I buy them for. Each to his/her own - personally I wouldn't pay much for cycling glasses that are going to get scratched at some point. Function over fashion for me. I don't care what make they are - prefer things that have no logos on them at all: who wants to be an unpaid walking advert? - as long as they do the job of keeping me comfy.

I think Bonj was joking.

I prefer contact lenses and regular sunglasses to prescription lenses - bit more flexibility if you have a cafe stop and it's dark inside - but I know not everyone gets on with CLs.

Stone sunglasses seem to be the only ones that properly wrap around my face.

The Aldi sale starts Thursday 7th and they have cycling glasses with 3 interchangeable lenses for something crazy like £3.75...

If you wear glasses other than for eyesight correction whilst riding on the road, is it just a cosmetic looks thing? It seems that way to me...

Not the case IMO (maybe for some) but most of my riding is in the countryside where bugs and loose gravel/stone chips are always flicking in my face... been lucky ish to date but keeps getting close to my eyes so come Thursday i am going to Aldi...

Nope. Getting stuff in your eyes at 20 mph is no fun at all.

Almost all of cycling is in the countryside and I have lost count the amount of times I have had insects bounce of the lenses. I always wear a pair unless it is raining.

I wear them to keep dust/rain/wind out of my eyes - stops my eyes watering. Which is why I said 'function over fashion'.

Also if you wear Oakleys your guaranteed to survive any accident….even being hit by a bus (as long as it only hits your eye…………and it’s a small bus):biggrin:

I don't wear any eye protection. I know I should and keep trying to remind myself to get some. But I've never found any sunglasses that suit me.

My main reason for wanting to protect my eyes is because of those Ba***rd insects. All I need is one in each eye at the same time.....

I bought some oakleys a few years ago and they said they could withstand a shotgun blast!

Sweet I thought.... so your eyes are intact when the rest of your face is shot off! xx(xx(
