TBH - she should get a good spec commuter and a posh bike.

Depends, a work bike for me means guards, and one that's the best for the purpose, so good level kit as well.

A posh bike is for the weekend/training rides - and more enjoyable.

Why? cant a 'work' bike be enjoyable? I have 1 bike and I enjoy it every time I ride it, regardless of where I am going.

It can..... my work bike is a fixed, the guards stop me/it getting full of crap....

My two road bikes are very nice, but neither accepts guards. If she plans using it day in day out, she'll soon get hissed off with spray blasted into her face, and up her butt.....

Have you not heard of n+1 mate....I have 4 bikes, and could easily make room for more......

4 bikes, congratulations!

n+1?

I love cycling dont get me wrong but I only earn so much and have other activities I enjoy. Alongside 2 kids and a wife that all have activities they enjoy (probably soon to be 3 again) a 3 bed house and no shed or garage.

I got a C2W voucher so bought the bike I would have the most fun on. When I get a new bike if circumstances have not changed I will trade mine in and upgrade.

Wigsie...you should have started earlier......biking..... my other 3 bikes were pre women and stuff - i.e. I had cash and raced..but......

Best bike is still original, training/ex.commuter is on third frame (yep...car interfaces) - and some new bits (note need for extra bikes...) MTB is a good quality Tange cro-mo machine, and it is awesome off road - just got back into off roading (and no suspension) - and the Fixie is the only new bike I've had in 14 years....although maintaining 3 other bikes has cost me mega in the last few years, having had about 8 years 'off' with work commitments.......

I have desires for N+2................ we'll see......hope the cars don't fall to bits.........
