Padded shorts are heaven-sent, but do not wear any underwear or it'll chafe.

Picked up my new bike and actually rode it home, only thing is it kept changing gear itself on way back on and off, like it was slipping - being a bike novice is this to be expected?

I've never had a bike change gear without it being changed. I'd take it back to be checked

It's an Apollo Metis 16" from halfords. Not a dear one but was recommended. It was very comfortable to ride but not sure like the plastic protector covering the chain as makes a loud clicking noise when peddling plus the issue with the gears on way home. Only got 6 gears wondering whether shd have paid bit more and bought the next version up which has more gears and lots of good reviews - Apollo etienne 16" ? Going back Tom not sure wot to do

get your pelvic sit bones measured (the pointy bits at the bottom of your pelvis) and then get the right size firm saddle + padded shorts. Any good bike shop can measure your pelvic bones and its not as intrustive as it sounds! makes a world of difference if your actually sitting on those bones and not just balancing on everything in between.

Do I need to get the spray plaster out?

Would this be useful for small people who complain about uncomfortable saddle on their bike? Squidge is 7 and has been complaining his saddle is not comfy
