Cycling proficiency about 42 years ago. Motorcycling for a few years - passed my test without any lessons in 1976 (things were different then). Learned to cycle properly less than a year ago by reading Cyclecraft, watching Gaz's Silly Cyclists, etc. Still learning.

Starting cycling to school aged 6 years - did a cycling proficiency test some time in primary school which resulted in a note to Mum saying I was 'over confident' Story of my life ;) But it was nearly 50 years ago so traffic was less and I managed to survive

Since then I learned to drive with the Army (landrovers with no synchromesh, then various armoured vehicles - very good way to improve your spatial awareness , then trucks to HGV2) and did a IAM test after university which helped with anticipating what the silly buggers are likely to do  so I reckon you could say I'm pretty confident on a bike :becool:

But I no longer have a car and find, when I do drive, the motorways are becoming way too scary. Everyone's driving way beyond their ability to anticipate events
