Starting cycling to school aged 6 years - did a cycling proficiency test some time in primary school which resulted in a note to Mum saying I was 'over confident'

Story of my life
![Wink ;) ;)](/styles/default/xenforo/smls/wink.gif)
But it was nearly 50 years ago so traffic was less and I managed to survive
Since then I learned to drive with the Army (landrovers with no synchromesh, then various armoured vehicles - very good way to improve your spatial awareness
![Whistle  ](/styles/default/xenforo/smls/whistling.gif)
, then trucks to HGV2) and did a IAM test after university which helped with anticipating what the silly buggers are likely to do
![Wacko  ](/styles/default/xenforo/smls/wacko.gif)
so I reckon you could say I'm pretty confident on a bike
But I no longer have a car and find, when I do drive, the motorways are becoming way too scary. Everyone's driving way beyond their ability to anticipate events
