Hi,

When you first start out hills and headwinds are a real problem as you basically
can only cope with the flat, tailwinds and very small hills. However after a while
you wil be powering along on the flat much faster and minor hills and headwinds
are a minor inconvenience, as they just slow you down rather than kill you.
Steeper hills are never going to be easy except for the truly committed.

Consequently work outs on stationary bikes will help, you don't really need to
do intervals, just work on overall power output, for short, medium and long
sessions. Out on the road take it easy to allow for the difficult sections.

Time in the (any sort of) saddle makes the biggest difference. You can
make huge differences in the first 6 to 12 months with perseverence.

rgds, sreten.
