What do you get for the £10 I have youview and it doesnt cost me anything apart from the purchase of the box.
Is yours from TalkTalk, or someone else perhaps?

The £10 gets me not much really, record, pause and rewind live TV plus ITV and BBC players. I can't record ITV4 or Film4 because we don't get them owing to the signal coming via a relay rather than the main transmitter. I can't remember the last time I used the box as we watch through the more reliable Freesat which has the full range of stations.

The reason I started this thread was to tell people that Film4 IS now available on Freeview 'Light' relay transmitters, but you would probably need to get your Freeview box to rescan the channels to find it.

I am already using TalkTalk, so it might be worth me contacting them to see if they can set me up with YouView.

As for watching series on Netflix etc. ... Somebody suggested buying boxed DVD sets of series like House, Mad Men, and so on, watching them, then selling them on eBay for about what was paid, or even making a profit. I like that idea!

Youview is basically freeview with the internet players such as iplayer built in, it is free you just go and get a youview box from a shop and plug in your network cable to your router you dont need to pay anyone for anything.

Talktalk and bt offer some additional channels and charge you for the pleasure but as it stands youview is free.

Colin youview is just freeview with the internet players added if you want it just buy a youview box and plug it into your router.

I use a chromecast for netflix in the living room where my tv doesnt have netflix on it, saves having to fire up the xbox 360.

Oh dear I am sorry to hear that
I only lost the phone and internet signal once, for about 2 days ...

I'll let them off - I had just had about 200 litres of water from a burst pipe cascading through the master phone socket!

Talktalk are ok until something goes wrong a very great amount of my time is taken up talking to talktalk on behalf of customers, as their standard reply when the broadband isnt working is usually to blame the customers equipment.

That's what Film4 did when I told them that the signal they were transmitting was ok to watch live but wouldn't trigger recordings on my PVR ...

... and then they quietly fixed the problem a few months later!

Perhaps I am just unlucky, but I have had problems with customer service at most companies that I have ever had to contact.

The worst example ever was a woman insisting that she could not shut down my late mother's account until the recently deceased parent was put on the phone to authorise it! Talk about engaging mouth before brain ...

The problem I have is that every time I find a good ISP they get taken over by dipsticks, like o2 getting taken over by sky.
