why are people keen for retro builds? There is good reason why bikes have changed over the last 25 years! I guess for a slow 20 mile loop of the countryside they could be okay.

Being a fan of green bikes, I like it. I'd lose the yellow candy stripe off the seat tube, though.

Indeed, the candy stripe is a horrible lapse. Have to say, I'm not keen on the saddle or handlebar tape colours either. If you're going for a classic old-school look, keep it simple. Probably a lovely bike to ride, mind.

Bikes have not got quicker. Lighter, yes. Hand built bikes are something to behold. I have one. It's over 20 years old. I've never been beaten on my bike by a newer machine, its been the rider. You are the engine.

Steel bikes do have a fantastic ride. They eat up poor road surfaces, they zuzzz out poor surfaces very well.
