Permission to post on behalf of my friends stupidity! We had a laugh about it.

About 8 years ago my friend passed his driving test, and was able to get a good cheap deal through the NHS for a Toyota Aygo.

He'd been driving it for a few weeks and still pretty nervous but was getting to grips with it. Until Winter started to draw in and we got darkness and cold weather.

One morning he said "I was driving home last night and cars kept beeping at me. I've also noticed that this car has rubbish headlights." He hadn't realised that he was driving in the dark with only his sidelights on. He didn't twig that cars also had a main beam, until I told him where the switch was.

On another morning he said "it was really hard driving in this morning, the windscreen keeps fogging up and I can't see". Again, he had failed to notice that there was a de-fogging option on the fan setting

We also had a female scientist type who would drive the red Ford escort mk2 at work, but not the white one as she did not want to learn to drive another car.

My ex did something similar, we were driving up the M1 when there were roadworks and slowed to only about 20mph eventually we cleared the contraflow and sped back up to 70+ and after a bit Pamela said to me "The cars making a funny noise" so I turned the cassette player down and asked her why she was in 3rd instead of 5th.

On my ride Monday I spotted in the river below a bird in classic pose. Heron never came to mind in my baby brain until I got home.

I've got a mug that must have a crack or gap in the glaze, with the result that there's dampness is in the underlying bisque that gets very hot when I microwave a coffee back up to heat. In fact, the handle gets much hotter than the coffee, achieving the kind of temperature that would make the Joint European Torus proud.

I'd throw the mug away, but of course it's the one my daughter painted at a one of those creative cafe places, so it has sentimental value - even if she hates it.

Having just burnt my hand for the umpteenth time, WHY CAN I NEVER REMEMBER THE PROBLEM WITH THIS MUG?!!!!!!
