They'll be expecting people to pedal for them next....

As a volunteer, I saw you London-Edinburgh-London fellas at work - proper long distance cyclists.

Most of those Evans riders are not in the same league, and you may have hit on another difference between 'audax' and 'sportive'.

To be fair to Evans, a lot of their rides are under £20, so they are hardly over-charging.

I should apologise, I was feeling particularly flippant yesterday probably due to these people actually being out on their bikes which I haven't done much of for a while

More encouraging set of comments today. Others commenting that the signage was fine and that the event was well run. Ive done a few Evans sportives and thought they were good value for money. Still not sure why people think road junctions need marshalling, I would have thought this would simply encourage riders to think road sense was someone else's responsibility

I did the medium route yesterday and found it very challenging mainly due to it being the longest ride I've done for about 6 months. I agree people should be aware the roads would be in a bad way following all the weather we've had however, I did feel the signage was pretty average though compared to many other sportives I have done. its only a minor point as i really enjoyed the day but I think that one large arrow pointing in the direction of travel is a lot easier to decipher than 2 small ones next to each other. A couple of junctions we went the wrong way because by the time we could see which way we were being directed we'd overshot the turn. then once we'd been separated, my riding partner missed an arrow and ended up getting lost which meant he didn't finish the medium route. Also I did fall off going through one of the stiles right at the end, which is purely down to me being a nob, so no complaints there ;). Overall a good day though and I'd definitely go back next year.

I'm really surprised they didnt unlock the gates. Those stiles must have been a bottleneck. I've always been very nervous going through them after a clipless.moment, so I feel your pain

My Brother in law did it with a friend, they had 4 punctures between them, which slowed them down, but said it was a fun day out.
