Anyone coming down to gravesend Cyclopark in February for a winter sportive ride ...?

On my doorstep ,so i'll be making the trip.
Depending on the weather will make my decision easier whether to do the longer or shorter course ..:cold:

Mudguards on and thick gloves and jacket at the ready

If you are it maybe good to have a cuppa and meet some forum members :cuppa:

i'm thinking of giving this a go with a mate, as with you though the weather will make my mind up for me as i cant be bothered driving down from Hertfordshire if its too miserable. I'll only be doing 50 miles regardless as it is the first one of the year for me and i have spiralled into unhealthy unfit mode over the winter. Need to start getting in shape for a C2C effort in June!

My BiL is doing it, I'm not.
However I went out in the lanes around Cobham and Meopham the other day and they are horrible at the moment. Standing water and general debris everywhere. I had to go through 4 sections that were totally under water.
I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel this as the lanes are that bad at the moment.
You will need mudguards and good tyres, dont go for some thin racing wheels

Any update on the state of the roads around this course from any locals would be appreciated. Roads in Hertford have been pretty shocking, 2 rides 2 punctures. Would like to get an idea if i can do this on my road bike (Scott CR1 Comp) as i dont have a cyclo cross bike. Cheers:thumbsup:

roads are reasonable considering weather, i will be riding on my road bike.

i know for the gatwick event the evans team got out and rode it a few days before to check it, i imagine they will do that again.

I'll probably be on my road bike with mudguards ,as the other 2 guys i'll be meeting will be the same ...not heard what the roads are like ,but none are great at the moment i'm afraid ,so we'll all be in the same boat " literally"

I've just seen some of the comments on Facebook about this.. https://www.facebook.com/events/595364893863295/
People moaning about the lack of signs telling them about puddles and complaining there weren't enough signs on the course, oh dear. Bless ;)
I was out on the same roads today and it was the best day for cycling this year.
They'll be expecting people to pedal for them next....
