"The Most Annoying Man In The World."
Mmm I was on my way to this ride when a couple of mates of mine called me to inform me they were backing out due to snowy conditions at there locales...

I did consider heading there by myself but the roads were very icey in the morning and I assumed (wrongly by all accounts) that the conditions over in Hebden area would be a whole lot worse.

Bit fed up I missed it now, but no matter I got out for a quick 30 miler(ish) on my own later in the afternoon.

Since I missed out on this one I think I'll do the (mini) North West Passage Audax on 20th Feb, which also starts near Rochdale and follows a similar route though longer at 120km (or 200km if you wanted to do the long one!). Hoping the snow/ice stays away.

Not heard of this ride: have you got any info on it, price, start time etc?

Thanks!

that's the one, looks a really good route though tough - I suppose the advantage of it being an audax is that people will be taking it easier and just getting round/enjoying themselves rather than racing

Just so people don't misunderstand the only similarity between these routes are they both start / finish in Rochdale and go through Todmorden, there the similarity ends. Looks like a good ride, might well give it a go.

I did the Evans ride-it 'King of the Downs' last year in horrendous weather, wasn't overly impressed with their organisation - no feed station en route, dubious sign posting etc. On the plus side - sign up was easy and facilities at start/finish were good. Also, I've noticed that the same ride-it event this year costs £25.00 instead of a tenner last year, but is seems that all sportives have doubled in price for 2010...anyone else noticed this?
