They're good as well the few times I've used them.

There's a new one just opened up near me. There was a very nice wilier in there, and if it wasn't for the fact that I've not got any space for another bike I'd have been sorely tempted.

Errr......no. It's on the front of their 2009 catalogue and at the top of the contents page p.3 and Ways to Shop p.130 bottom left corner. It is also on their website main page on the rhs. See link copied below.

Crankarm: thanks for that - I owe you one! I was hating this thread, having bought my bike at full price (almost £1500) from them on Tuesday. Thanks to this link, I see that they will refund the difference up to 7 days later - so I can go in there tomorrow armed with some printed website screens, and they should be giving me back about £100!

CycleChat wins again!

Cheers,
Darren

On Evans 'price match offer'. Make sure you print off a page of a compeitiors web site and take it into Evans with you. They are unable to access the web in the shop (so they say) and will not make a phone call to competitor to check on the price. It cost me a return trip but if you are armed with the info prior to going in there you should have no problem.

I called Evans store yesterday, the guy said they ahve stopped the price match and they no longer give the CTC discount. Hmmm thinks I. So calls their head office, they advise me that the person at the store was talking nonsense and to call the store and ask for the Drew the manager. So calls the store, asks for Drew who is on his lunch, guy asks if he can help and explained to him the situation. He said yes the will price match and do give a CTC discount... and the guy explained it was Drew that I had spoken to before! So anyway, I am getting it from them at th same price has EBC... even though I was tempted to tell them to shove it and buy it from EBC, though it saves me the drive through to Edinburgh... plus them east coasters hate us weegies so saves my feet making a mess of their pretty streets

Well, I had limited success with my Price Match attempt yesterday. I handed them the advert showing my bike £100 cheaper elsewhere, but they went back and called the place to check stock. Because the other place didn't have any left (there are virtually no Roubaix left in the country), the guy in Evans wouldn't price match for me on the bike.

At this point I fell to my backup plan - I had also printed out adverts for the helmet and floor pump that I got from them, and they did price match those, so I got £40 back.

One reason that they are so reluctant to actually apply the "Price Match Promise" in-store is that it seems the guys in the shop are on commission - once he'd agreed to the pump & helmet being matched, the guy in Evans got one of the junior staff to actually process it. Junior was heard to grumble that he always got the refunds to do, and it "came off his" (commission/bonus target, I presume).

Cheers,
Darren
