Nice news from Octopus today:-

Overnight charging down to 7.5p per kwh, day price to 40p.
:hyper:
Almost down by 50% from 4 weeks ago (12p on Bulb). 2p thanks to switching to Intelligent Octopus (although it wasn't intelligent enough to actually work last night) and the rest is a price cut.

Which is nice.

This looks interesting, & if the quoted range is possible, it could be a ‘game changer’ for electric cars
Price dependent, of course

Not really. The range is based on a huge 175kwh battery and the article doesn't mention the kwh to kg ratio. If Musk wanted a Tesla with a 175kwh battery he could have built one - it would just be much more expensive and very heavy.

Just about every battery company in the world is on the edge of a range breakthrough - we will see battery tech improve constantly. In 5 years time all the cars will probably have double the range that they have now. This may catalyse the second hand market as all our current 50k EVs become affordable second hand vehicles.

I'm sure that's what they all say to please investors.....

Unless they change the battery chemistry gains will be minimal.

Coming back from what will be a 370 mile drive today. I've charged once for 35 mins. I had a cup of coffee from the hotel, popped to the loo.....

Savings approx £70

I don't pay for supercharging- lifetime free subscription

Tried out hands free parking feature too😁

Compared to what?

I did 450 miles over the weekend - total cost £56 (450 miles @ 55mpg = 8.2 gallons of diesel x 4.54 = 37.2 litres @ £1.51/litre).
