Like and Agree, same thing happened with the now oh so trendy sport of Triathlon - I simply can't afford to do these things any more, so much for Sport For All - well, SFA (as long as you can afford it!). And although this might start a huge rant, I bet there's a few out there making VERY good livings organising this sort of thing (and some that maybe aren't).

Let them make their cash I say. They won't be getting any of my money though, organised mass cycle events just aren't my thing. Cycling is one of the few sports/activities that is still free (once you have paid for your bike).

I'm far more concerned that I can't take my kids swimming for less than a £10, or a game of tennis, squash or badmington involves me joining a club at huge cost.
