We had an 80+ year old doing our hilly Club 10TT the other week, he put in a time of 28-29 mins. We should all be so lucky to be that fit at his age. He cycles all the time though between Crieff and Perth. He is Perth United, Mo you must pass him often?
Can't say I've seen him. Maybe he doesn't get up at Mo-time. Lol.
My next door neighbour still cycles most days and he is 71.

Does anyone have a list of approved, decent sportives in Scotland? Want to pick up the pace before i turn 30 in a few years.

Tour of Tweeddale Sunday 21st Sept http://www.peeblescycling.org/ is a good sportive of 50 or 80 miles, has some killer climbs (Talla Linn being one of them) and lovely scenery to look at as you try to forget your legs hurt after said killer climbs!
Only 15 notes as well to enter, really friendly club, great food stops, did it last year and signed up this year

Sooo, which one's best for a first sportive? (I'm not brilliant at hills yet, getting there though)
I'd highly recommend the Highland Perthshire 50 miler as a first sportive.

It's probably about the flattest 50 mile route in Scotland :wahhey:, on quiet roads and plenty parking at Scone airport at the start. The only hill is a steady, not very steep climb out of Dunkeld, past the golf course.

I did it a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm hoping to do it this year too - laid back.
