P.S. if anyone fancies a CC meet-up to ride all or some of the route pre-event let me know as it would be a good opportunity to meet people  There seems to be a lot of CCers riding the event this year, but it'll be hard to meet everyone on the day.

Noodley - got a couple of guys coming up from down south that I met when I cycled London-Paris last year. we are heading up prob early April for a ride - we could try and organise something about then?

I'd be happy to join in if possible as me and a couple of mates planned on going up some time in April too, So is that Noodley organising it then?

You mean we now need to be fit enough ;) by April :becool: ???

With these greyhounds coming from all quarters, I suspect the "gentle pootle" might turn into a "set a time to beat on the actual event".

Of course, I don't need to join this ride, now do I ......... :becool:

Oh yes you do!

(I'll keep you company at the back!)
Wha..... ? Eh ??

OK mags - and it could be a useful ride together to 'speed-check', to see how compatible we might be for joining up for your Challange(sic) ride later on ! I'd hate to be accompanying you - allegedly offering support - when all you are doing is waiting for me at the top (and bottom ) of every slope/hill .

Waddya rekkon ? :sad:/:biggrin:

I'm not expecting to average 16-17mph over 190 miles you know!:smile:

I'm not a definite for this ride in April (it's family permitting) but I'll do my best.

You should manage 18-20kph over that sort of distance

Excellent to train with a child in seat/trailer/tagalong - more weight to pull

I'll arrange the April ride, just in case anyone was wondering if I would...

I'll look at my busy diary and see what date suits. It'll be a Sunday.

I'm another that would be interested in a Sunday in April, although I may be peeling off early doors depending on the route chosen - I'd be cycling up from Perth as a starter, up past Kirkmichael and over moulin if anyone's interested in joining me for a long run!

So how did you get on? I see this post was from 2010 and found it while googling too. I'm doing it this year, and raising funds for charity. Was it a really tough ride? I've driven around the course last October and it seemed pretty rough! Walked up Schiehallion too, great views. I'm in training at the gym with my PT, although not been out on my bike since last year!! I'm a fair weather rider where possible, unless caught out. Happily ride 70miles or more, but not at a average speed of 25mph, which I think the organisers would prefer.
